All UK-bound travellers now need negative test for entry and must also quarantine for up to 10 days following the closure of all UK travel corridors.
Health Minister Robin Swann has proposed extending Northern Ireland's lockdown restrictions until 5th March. The Stormont Executive is meeting to consider the proposals. It is not clear if Mr Swann is putting any other tougher measures into a paper for ministers to consider as well.
Shijiazhuang, the largest city in China's Hebei province, has barred people from leaving. People and vehicles from areas of the city considered high-risk are not allowed to leave their district, authorities said.
Non-essential shops to reopen on 27th January and hairdressers on 3rd February, says Jersey government.
Scotland's Covid-19 lockdown has been extended until at least the middle of February.
Wales is continuing its lockdown and will be toughening up some restrictions as the nation struggles to manage the spread of the new highly infectious coronavirus variant. People in Wales are already being told to stay at home and not mix with other households, non-essential shops and hospitality are closed, but showrooms will also now have to close. Unless cases drop dramatically before the next review date on 29th January, school and college students will have to continue online learning until the February half-term. The government is also looking into whether major supermarkets and retailers which remain open should put additional measures in place, and what else employers can do to protect people in the workplace.
The southern French city of Marseille is to introduce a 6pm curfew as part of restrictions aimed at tackling the spread of coronavirus.
South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced that its land borders will be closed to most travellers until 15th February. Many restrictions put in place at the end of December will be extended.
